Good video it made my Gf and I laugh when you started talking about the bad as we also live in Krakow and we are from Canada so we totally can relate to what you were saying. I have to disagree on some things you said but I give this video a strong 9 out of 10. Poles love paperwork and stamps and we laugh every time we have to go through that and dont even get me started on the lack of customer service in this country.

Poles hate the paperwork, they themselves admit it's awful. Poland is still very primitive, I was born in Poland, but to move to Poland from milk & honey just to live cheaper ? Not I.

@Rob Robski I flew once from JFK to Poland through Toronto and it was very bad experience. Canadian airport and custom workers are soooooo slow and they look like they are sleepy. The best customer oriented service is in USA. I used to live in France for 3 years and it was more paper work in every public office then in Poland.

@schaedel martin Your comment is exactly what the problem here is here. I dont care how much these people make I did not force them to do this kind of work. If you are hired to do a job you should be doing it to the best of your abilities. That is suck a piss poor and lazy attitude makes me so mad when people say shit like you just did.

I am from UK but moved to Poland. So much truth in your video. The bureaucracy is a pain to start with - get the translations etc... - but once you have done it. so much easier. I actually use the Krakow DMV and Passport/ID services and man it is so smooth - now I did all my initial papers - in the UK there are no longer people and everything has become automated and robotised so getting anything done involves screaming at your phone so the robot will 'help' you. I love being able to deal with a person - it also means you can kinda apologise your way out of certain things. Also I have found with customer service by being more English and cracking a small joke or just calling them out on being shit we often end up having a good laugh and customer service becomes awesome.

hang in there man explore your " inner Polak" BTW I can say this because I'm polish living 30 years in the USA So asking someone to find a shirt for you in Poland would be an equivalent of You walking into a supermarket in the States and asking an employee him/her to pick up three nice tomatoes from the shelf because you cannot decide Different mentality But I congratulate you on your decision Especially since your roots are polish You will be amazed exploring different parts of Poland And if I my say explain to your kids who gen.Pułaski was , who Kościuszko all the best for you and thank you for the video

Great video, I like that you enjoy being back where your roots are :D I got confused during the money talk. The impression that the number seems very high :) it doesn't make sense, just divide everything by 4 (or multiply), you're right that some imported stuff is expensive, mostly because of VAT which is 23%. Regarding good quality food and veggies, I think we are still far behind the US with GMO, so you have more real stuff. Agriculture in Poland is still locally owned, no great corporations like in the States.

"Everybody obeys the law" when reffering to the traffic? Haha good one, ziomuś, Kraków must be a real fluke in Poland, since what you've described regarding traffic is the exact opposite of my personal 30 years worth of experience. Cars that start one by one, "Woman" parking , everyone cuts in, daredevil speeddemons, we have it all. There are a ton of roadside crosses to remind you what cutting corners and thinking that you are some hot shit driver ends up in.

@Try. Can. Do. Poland is poor country, people are insecure. You can see that in the eyes. Maybe not you but I can always recognise polish people abroad. We are like second category Europeans. That fear is deep inside us. We can't work with pleasure, we used to think that work has to be hard, exhausting etc. Our survival rate is very high in comparison to west european countries.

But there are many mountains and good natures thats why i like it. Also the the season I like the winter in Poland because you will see a lot of snow but in the Netherlands you dont see that much any more than before. Also one good thing for me Poland is a calm country not as crowded in Western Europe like France The Netherlands (refuegees coming to western europe). Less peoples in Poland and exactly what you said the life is slower and easier. In poland i see almost100% polish peoples is also exactly what you said poland for the polish peoples

hahaha :) great video :) love that part about customer service - I will give you a tip try to joke with them it will do miracles. In terms of language, it will take 2+ years for your brain to build a new neural network, its a chemistry and you can't do anything about it. I'm expat in London while being Polish and took me a while and I hated it - but thats just perfectionism isn't it? - remember that poles are very aware that you are trying to speak one of the most complicated languages on the planet, and they know that it is painful and they will appreciate that - they will be more helpful and nice to you if you try to speak polish - even broken as hell, than English - as they think if you decided to live in Poland you need to learn Polish at some point there is no other way :). Polish when abroad do the same - will try to learn English or any other language - its a matter of respect to the people and country. Watch a lot of TV but without subtitles - It will help your brain to adapt. Also by learning another language, you are getting +10 extra points to your IQ :) Yeah Poland is an extremely bureaucratic country I think the reason is history and division of Poland between three countries. Its a madness but not only for you but for polish people too :D - they hate that.

Hey bro, pretty much everything you said you liked about living there, you can find here in New England. Seriously, like everything except 1 or 2. I live near New Britain CT, better known as "New Britski". One of, if not THE largest population of Polish people in the U.S. If not the largest, it's definitely the high concentration. Anyhow, as you were going through your list all I could think was "Yep, that's why I moved back to New England from the South...Yep, that too...uh huh, that too." LOL What you listed and more. I'm smack between Boston and NYC, ocean and mountains, 4 seasons, culture, history, density etc etc. So, if things don't work out there have a look here. You might find the best of both worlds for yourself. Good luck to you and your family! PS. I"m half Polish myself. Woot! LOL

Four seasons have plenty of drawbacks as well, for example: massive floods occur every spring, our houses require additional warming and heating which makes them much more expensive to build and use than in the US, cracks and holes on the newly-built roads appear much faster etc. Honestly I wish we had the climate like in Las Vegas :)

I think in general, Europeans work to live and Americans live to work. Customer service In Poland has always been bad. Bureaucracy and customer service goes back to times of communism (the general population hates it too) and it needs reform. Management and owners your business depends on the customer so consider great customer service to anyone. No one has to come to your business and no one has to buy your product. Hopefully this will change.

Hey, nice video! Just FYI - an average gross salary in Poland is currently at 5,200 PLN vs 4,056 USD in the US. Therefore, a 3,000-PLN-net salary is NOT a good salary, since it's even below average (5200 gross translates to approx. 3,750 net). A good salary in a big city, such as in Kraków, can start at 5k net, since with it, you could theoretically survive and also save something like 1.5-2k a month. An average net wage in the US after tax and social security stands at approx. 2,850 USD, so a "good one" would start somewhere around 4k USD I guess. So to make a long story short - in your segment at the 10:30 minute mark you should probably take into account 5k PLN and 4k USD as a salary, and then the gap is not that large. Anyway, nice vid, cheers :)

also: 300 PLN for a tank of gas? What are you driving, a tank? :)) That would be more than 60 liters. I don't think I've ever driven a car with such a huge tank. Accidentally, I have a Hyundai and a full tank is like 40-45 liters.

I can really say that living here is the best decisions I've ever made. What you've expressed in the good, I totally agree with you. In the bad, not really. There is a factor to consider when comparing to the US, mainly in gas prices. In my experiences with customer services, no problem, you'll find one or two bad customer services now and then, tell me where in the world one doesn't experience such situations.
